Revlon, under its namesake and Almay brands, will acquire the Colomer Group from CVC Capital Partners for $660 million.

The deal will allow Revlon to reach more customers in the professional salon industry, with the Creative Nail professional and Shellac nail polishes. The company is also gaining American Crew mens haircare products.

Acquiring salon brands seems to be a trend. In 2011, Unilever bought Alberto-Culver Co., giving it the Nexxus haircare brand; and P&G has added salon brands including Wella Illumina hair coloring.

Revlon’s acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter. The takeover will be financed using funds underwritten by Citigroup.
